2-component basement waterproofing

Aquaplan Basement Protect Epoxy is a 2-component epoxy coating for waterproofing basement walls and other underground structures in brick or with cement facing. It is also suitable for floors due to its hard-wearing properties.

Step-by-step plan

  1. Make the substrate dust-free, grease-free and absorbent.
  2. Remove any loose cement, plaster, paint residue, efflorescence and mould with a pressure washer or wire brush.
  3. Seal cracks, fissures and leaks at the cove joint between the floor and wall with Basement Protect Regular Plug.
  4. Rinse the prepared surface thoroughly with water.
  5. Stir components A and B vigorously and separately with a wooden paint stirrer. Then add 1 part component A to 4 parts component B in a clean container (bucket/can). Stir carefully until a homogeneous white colour is obtained.
  6. Never mix more Basement Protect Epoxy than can be processed in 30 minutes at 20°C or 60 minutes at 10°C.
  7. Moisten the substrate and apply Basement Protect Epoxy immediately and evenly in a circular motion with a stiff brush at the rate of 0.25 l/m² per coat.
  8. Apply a second coat after about 8 hours. In exceptional and persistent cases, a third coat may be necessary.
